On April 20 1964, the First Fine and Applied Art show took place at the Holland Civic Center located on West 9th street of Holland Michigan. It was the anticipated event that brought over 4,000 attendees from all over West Michigan. It was an exhibition like Holland had never seen. Citizens of Holland at the time were beginning to understand art as a trending practice as well as an applicable one.
